Mini Review: Destroy Me by Tahereh Mafi
If Destroy Me does not make you sympathize with Warner, I honestly don't think you actually read it.
Title: Destroy Me
Series: Shatter Me trilogy
Placement in Series: 1.5
Author: Tahereh Mafi
Rating: 5/5
Blurb:
In Tahereh Mafi’s Shatter Me, Juliette escaped from The Reestablishment by seducing Warner—and then putting a bullet in his shoulder. But as she’ll learn in Destroy Me, Warner is not that easy to get rid of. . .
Back at the base and recovering from his near-fatal wound, Warner must do everything in his power to keep his soldiers in check and suppress any mention of a rebellion in the sector. Still as obsessed with Juliette as ever, his first priority is to find her, bring her back, and dispose of Adam and Kenji, the two traitors who helped her escape. But when Warner’s father, The Supreme Commander of The Reestablishment, arrives to correct his son’s mistakes, it’s clear that he has much different plans for Juliette. Plans Warner simply cannot allow.
Set after Shatter Me and before its forthcoming sequel, Unravel Me, Destroy Me is a novella told from the perspective of Warner, the ruthless leader of Sector 45.
This novella was so perfect. So needed. If you read the Shatter Me series, you need to read this novella. It is not an option. This book is so integral to the plot that it cannot be set aside. To me, it's book 2. And Unravel Me will be book 3.
In Destroy Me we get a much bigger picture of everything that is going on. We get to see how the Reestablishment functions. We get to see so much more than Juliet could show us; even more than Adam could show us. We really get an insider's view of how the post-apocalyptic world Tahereh Mafi created functions and who runs it. And we get to see inside Warner's head.
I don't want to spoil anything, so if you haven't read Destroy Me yet, go do that now. It's an e-novella. And probably on Tuesday I will be doing a follow-up review in video format which will be full of spoilers because I need to talk about this book.
Brilliant.

Waiting On Wednesday #2
This week I'm anxiously waiting on book 1.5 of the Shatter Me series by Tahereh Mafi. Destroy Me, written from Warner's perspective, is due out in e-book format on October 2nd 2012.
Goodreads blurb:
In Tahereh Mafi’s Shatter Me, Juliette escaped from The Reestablishment by seducing Warner—and then putting a bullet in his shoulder. But as she’ll learn in Destroy Me, Warner is not that easy to get rid of. . .

Just hearing that is will be in Warner's perspective was enough to get me excited for Destroy Me. It is not often that readers get the perspective of the antagonist. I am curious to see just exactly how Warner's mind works, and am looking forward to seeing him in future books. I mean, he was able to touch Juliette... BUT HOW?
*bounces up and down in excitement*
Also, the cover text: "She will choose me"
LOVE. IT.
Who else will be purchasing this e-novella? What are you most excited for? Discuss in the comments below :)

Cover Reveal: Unravel Me by Tahereh Mafi
I fell in love with Shatter Me after reading towards the end of 2011. I won't get too much into it, as I still need to do a Shatter Me review post (after I re-read, however). So I was super excited to see the cover for the second book in the series, Unravel Me.
Look at this beauty (or rather, these beauties, as the new Shatter Me cover was also revealed not long ago)!
Edit: Cover of Destroy Me, book 1.5 in the series, has been added below after being revealed on 6.22.12
I cannot get over how beautiful these covers are. Seriously, I cannot stop staring.
My favourite part of the new covers is how they link together. Shatter Me's cover shows branches for the eye's lashes, except for the one corner of the eye which is turning icy. This brings us to Unravel Me's cover, which has icy lashes, but the corner of the eye this time is watery. I'm wondering if the third book will follow this pattern, and if the lashes there will be water? We have a long wait to find out!
Until then, we get to see the cover for Shatter Me book 1.5, Destroy Me, which Tahereh Mafi will be revealing later today (June 22nd, 2012). I, for one, am super excited about that! I want to get to know our antagonist of Shatter Me. He certainly has be intrigued. And goodreads says the e-book contains 150 pages of Warner goodness, so I could not be more stoked!
So what do you guys thing?
Do you like the Unravel Me cover? Which cover do you prefer? The old Shatter Me cover? Or do you like the new design?
And if you haven't read Shatter Me yet, what are you doing? Get on over to the bookstore and pick yourself up a copy! I can't say for sure when I'll have a review up, but by the time Destroy Me is out, I promise you I shall! For now, click here to be taken to the goodreads.com description of Shatter Me.
*goes back to staring at these beautiful covers*
